The importance of resilience in the workplace

Format: Seminar or Workshop

Ideal audience: Employees and Managers, mission-driven workers, healthcare, high stress, long-tenured employee groups, customer-centric organizations

Description: In this session, the science of developing and using resilience is brought forward based on recent research in behavioural psychology and neuroscience. Time is spent helping people understand what resilience is, why it matters, and how you can both build and use it to your advantage. This session also highlights the importance of team and culture as support for resilience. Real workplace examples and analogies are provided to help individuals adopt new skills. The final portion of the talk includes a Q+A which also serves to deepen peoples understanding in this introductory type session.

Introduction to self-efficacy and why it matters for happiness and performance

Format: Seminar + Q&A

Ideal Audience: Employees, Managers

Description: Self-efficacy is one of the least understood psychological skills that drive and predict happiness and performance in the workplace. This seminar focuses on clearly understanding what self-efficacy is and isn’t, why it matters and how to develop it. Self-efficacy is critical before and during periods of change. A better understanding of this can impact how organizations go about the process of implementing new software, policies, or how well someone adapts to a new role or a new manager. Real workplace examples and analogies are provided to help individuals adopt new skills. The final portion of the talk includes a Q+A which also serves to deepen peoples understanding in this introductory type session.

Putting empathy and compassion to work

Format: Seminar + Q&A

Ideal audience: Employees, Managers

Description: Empathy is generally a well-understood concept, but the specifics of what it is and why it matters are less understood. The concept is presented in a seminar type format with emphasis placed on clearly understanding how to apply empathy in more specific ways, when and where it is most critical, and how to move from empathy (putting yourself in someone else’s shoes) to compassion (adjusting your actions in a positive way based on using empathy). Real workplace examples and analogies are provided to help individuals adopt new skills. The final portion of the talk includes a Q+A which also serves to deepen peoples understanding in this introductory type session.

Introduction to habit formation and change in the workplace

Format: Seminar / Workshop

Ideal audience: Employees, Managers

Description: The science that understands human behaviours is rapidly evolving, and this session takes a deeper dive into what is best known and how people can put that knowledge to use. This session is a continuation of the introduction to the neuroscience of behaviour that included in every session. Real workplace examples and analogies are provided to help individuals adopt new skills. The final portion of the talk includes a Q+A which also serves to deepen peoples understanding in this introductory type session.

Recognition: Developing a grateful Workplace Culture

Format: Seminar + Q&A

Ideal audience: Employees, Managers

Description: Gratitude is one of the most important and impactful traits that we can develop and experience greater happiness and more positive relationships. Its human nature to take both important and seemingly small things for granted, but it is also incredibly simple to reverse that trend. This session outlines the science of gratitude, how you can improve it, and why it matters in work, school and life in general. The seminar is a fun and interactive session that guarantees a lot of laughs and head-nodding from attendees. This is a great introductory session if you are looking to move towards a more positive workplace or organizational culture and attendees will start applying the principles on the spot and feeling the benefits.

Applied Mindfulness for Managers

Format: Seminar + Q&A

Ideal audience: Managers, Aspiring Managers, and Leadership

Description: In this session, the science of developing and using mindfulness is brought forward based on recent research in behavioural psychology and neuroscience. Myths about mindfulness are disproven, and a very realistic applied approach is taken to ensure that people take away a clear understanding of what it is, why it matters and how they can start developing it and using. To make the topic approachable, real workplace examples and analogies are provided to ensure a more applied style of learning. Based on all of Plasticity Labs’ data, cultural drivers like communication, feedback and recognition are identified as a management weakness and mindfulness can be at the root of improving these critical drivers of effective workplace culture
